Description
AHFS SKEDADDLE INSECT OIL
Nutritional Summer & Insect-Season Support for Horses
Feed from the inside. Spray from the outside. Manage the environment.
AHFS Skedaddle Insect Oil is a garlic-free, concentrated nutritional oil blend developed specifically for horses during the warmer months and challenging insect season.
We wanted to create something very different from our original powdered Skedaddle — an easy-to-feed oil with a small daily serving of only 25 mL, combining carefully selected nutritional oils with concentrated botanical ingredients.
WHAT’S IN SKEDADDLE INSECT OIL?
Cold-Pressed Linseed Oil
The main oil in the formulation and a natural source of omega-3 alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). It provides valuable nutritional support for the skin and coat while forming the nutritional base of the blend.
Black Cumin Seed Oil – Nigella sativa
A concentrated botanical oil containing naturally occurring plant compounds. Black cumin has a long history of traditional use and is one of the key botanical oils we selected for this formula.
Coconut-Derived MCT Oil – C8 & C10
Provides caprylic (C8) and capric (C10) medium-chain triglycerides. Coconut-derived medium-chain fatty acids are particularly interesting in insect research, which is why we chose to incorporate C8 and C10 into our insect-season formulation.
Rice Bran Oil
A highly palatable nutritional oil that provides additional energy and naturally occurring plant compounds.
Turmeric Oleoresin 10%
A concentrated turmeric extract providing naturally occurring curcumin.
Peppermint Oleoresin
A highly concentrated aromatic botanical ingredient, meaning only a very small amount is required in the formulation.
Natural Mixed Tocopherols 70%
Added as an antioxidant system to help protect the oils in the formulation against oxidation.
WHY NO GARLIC?
We specifically formulated Skedaddle Insect Oil without garlic.
Although garlic is traditionally used in many equine insect-season products, research has shown that excessive or prolonged garlic intake can affect horses’ red blood cells.
Rather than adding garlic simply because it is traditionally associated with flies, we chose to formulate this oil without it.
MORE THAN JUST AN INSECT-SEASON PRODUCT
One of the things we particularly like about this formulation is that the oils themselves provide genuine nutritional value.
So while Skedaddle Insect Oil was developed with summer and insect season in mind, your horse is also receiving a concentrated blend of nutritional oils rather than simply another aromatic feed additive.
IMPORTANT TO UNDERSTAND
We believe in being completely transparent about what the science does — and does not — currently show.
Several of the botanical ingredients and fatty acids used in this formulation have been investigated for insect-related properties. However, this does not mean that feeding this particular combination to horses has been scientifically proven to repel flies, midges, mosquitoes or ticks.
Individual horses may also respond differently.
For that reason, Skedaddle Insect Oil should form part of a complete insect-management programme, together with suitable external insect sprays, environmental management, stable hygiene and protective equipment where required.
For equine use only. For all classes of horses.
AHFS Skedaddle Insect Oil is a complementary nutritional feed supplement and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent disease.
